All of the headlines lately seem to be about how horrible the economy is, how we're headed in to the next great depression, etc., etc.
I know things aren't good, but can we please have a little restraint here?
Part of the problem with the current economy is a crisis of confidence - telling everyone they're going to lose their jobs and that the economy is in a free fall isn't helping things. If you tell people we're in the next great depression enough times, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Instead of doing yet another story on someone about to lose their home, how about a couple stories on people who are coming up with creative solutions to their problems? How about a couple stories with some helpful advice for those currently in hard times?
Or better yet, how about this story? The American people face a great challenge and we will rise to it. That's the real story here, and we need to start writing it.
